Program Context

Goldie B. Wolfe Miller has achieved success in commercial real estate in the Chicago region and has functioned as a role model for other women in the industry.  One of her goals in life remains to increase the resources available to women to make further advances in the field of commercial real estate.

Women are significantly underrepresented in the real estate development industry, particularly in positions that reflect levels of leadership.  CREW, the national association of commercial real estate women, conducted a national survey in 2005 described as the commercial real estate industry’s first comprehensive look at the women in the industry.  On September 30, 2005, their summary news release of that survey reported that women comprise 36 percent of professionals in the commercial estate industry and “at comparable levels of experience, significantly more men achieve senior level positions than women.”  Data and findings from that study can be viewed at: http://www.crewnetwork.org/.

Program Background

The mission of the Goldie B. Wolfe Miller Women Leaders in Real Estate Initiative is to promote women in the commercial real estate industry to achieve leadership positions.  By educating, encouraging, and supporting women in this industry, the goal is to prepare them for senior leadership roles in all sectors of commercial real estate.  This initiative incorporates scholarships, mentorship and networking which will be open to women in all facets of the real estate industry.
